I was gobsmacked!

We started with: I Was Speechless!

We continue with:

I was gobsmacked!

Practice makes perfect: Outloud; Under your breath; In your head!!!

http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-gob1.htm

Gobsmacked combines the northern English and Scottish slang term gob, mouth, with the verb smack. It suggests the speaker is utterly astonished or astounded. It’s much stronger than just being surprised; it’s used for something that leaves you speechless, or otherwise stops you dead in your tracks. It suggests that something is as surprising as being suddenly hit in the face.

Lost for Words!!!

squid

From this website:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/yoursay/lost_for_words/greek/kalamari_to_you_too.shtml
Calamari squid

The woman with the strange expression was lost for words.

I think if I were called a squid by a stranger, I would be lost for words, too.

How about you?

I was too stunned to speak!

We started with: I Was Speechless!

We continue with: I was too stunned to speak.

In today’s example the situation is quite a bit different! It is not because of happiness and delight.

Sstunned

http://piccola-pine-cone.blogspot.jp/2012/09/too-stunned-to-speak.html

1) How did the “her” and “me” communicate?

2) Are they working now?

3) What is “her” unsure about?

4) Why is “me” stunned and disturbed?

5) What would you do with two free hours in the middle of the day?

6) What are some possible reasons “her” feels unsure of what to do with two free hours in her day?

Have a good one!

Sincerely,

Katie
